Meet York County started as a hobby project somewhere in early 2018. Having lived in Saco for a couple years at this point and being a 2010 graduate from University of New England (Biddeford) I wanted to take my passion for local businesses a step further than just being a loyal customer.

If you look at Portland, there are plenty of Portland specific social media pages or blogs. I noticed real quick that it was pretty dry in York County. And I wanted to help places not have to get duped into the “influencer” world (a story for another day and coming soon).

At first the idea was to do a blog. And that’s what we did. But do people still really read anymore? So it started to shift more to social media. And that’s what we did, create a Facebook page. But do people still really use Facebook anymore? So it shifted to Instagram. And well it’s always kind of changing because that truly is the world of Marketing.

The goal remains the same, to help promote local businesses and events. But the goal is to not just help them, but help the consumer find a new place to dine or shop. Maybe you are from Biddeford and there’s a place right down the street you’ve never heard of. Maybe you’re from Portland looking to get out of town for a quick day trip to Kennebunkport. Maybe you live in Saco and have never heard of Springvale. That’s what we’re here for.
